The development of AI sex dolls
At the moment, an AI sex doll is still a long way off, but with the developments in AI at the moment, it is only a matter of time before we move to sex dolls that not only fulfill a physical need, but can also truly communicate.
When that happens, it will only be a matter of time before a sex doll becomes indistinguishable from the real thing.
Our expectation: in 50-75 years, people will be willing to marry a robot or AI sex doll and it will be normal.
That's of course difficult to understand, but we didn't expect mobile phones to be so popular in 1999. 20 years later, everyone has one. ( 1 )
How much does an AI sex doll or robot cost?
As for the price tag, a Tesla robot currently costs $20,000 to $30,000. ( 2 )
We expect: Because a sex robot must not only be able to communicate or respond to input, but also perform sexual acts, the price of a sex robot will be at least the same or even higher.
As time goes by, technology will become cheaper, and this is expected to happen with robots as well. ( 3 )
So, it's highly likely that robots will become affordable in the future, or that, according to civilization, they'll be a relatively cheap investment for what you get in return.
Benefits of AI sex dolls
Using an AI sex doll can contribute to personal well-being by providing companionship and emotional comfort to people without a partner.
With advanced artificial intelligence, it's possible for people to develop a satisfying relationship with a robot. Proponents of companion robots will argue that they can help people who would otherwise bottle up their frustrations.
Moreover, companion robots can simply be an interesting addition for individuals and couples.
Disadvantages of AI sex dolls
The integration of AI sex dolls into society may raise concerns and resistance among some people, primarily because of the potential problems this new technology may entail. One of the main concerns is the moral question of whether having intimacy with an AI form can be considered infidelity.
In other words: are you cheating if you have sex with an AI sex doll? Especially when robots become so real that they develop their own personalities.
It could also endanger human civilization; if every man and woman chooses an AI sex robot over a real partner, birth rates will plummet. If no one has children anymore, that will be the end for humanity.
Finally, there are concerns that having a robot partner could create unrealistic expectations when someone transitions back from interacting with a robot to interacting with a human. Can you still go back to a real person once you've gotten used to a robot?
Some questions will therefore remain unanswered until we experience the reality of a world where AI sex robots live alongside us: What psychosocial implications does this entail? Can a robot truly replace the human experience? Will robots prevent humans from reproducing, and how will that problem be solved?
