How do you determine if a sex doll is made of good quality TPE?
The sex doll market largely consists of TPE or silicone . TPE is the most popular because it's considerably cheaper than silicone and much softer. We'll leave silicone out of the discussion for this blog post.
Now, TPE is not a fixed formula; the composition of TPE is not fixed or standard.
Just like a Michelin rubber tire is different from a budget tire. Both brands use different formulas. Both tires are made of rubber, but they don't wear out or handle the same.
Either a €19 drill or a genuine €180 Makita. They're both drills; you can't tell the difference from the outside, but you will once you start drilling.

Each sex doll brand has its own TPE formula, its own ratio/composition and chosen materials.
Basically, this is in a nutshell what makes the price differences.
The material and composition of the TPE account for 80-90% of the price; the extra box, packaging, logo, website, etc. are all secondary and just a small price to pay. At Monica Moments, you pay for a quality product, delivered discreetly and securely, nothing more.
If you have a 14KG doll that costs €179 in one webshop and €389 in another, I can completely understand why you'd think: " Why would I get the €389 one?!"

Because yes, nobody wants to pay too much.
And that is understandable, you want the best price-quality ratio.
If a sex toy's product page isn't clear about what material the toy contains, or uses meaningless, fancy, made-up names to mask the actual synthetic name, that's already a red flag (in my opinion).
If they don't say anything about the material, or it is difficult to find, it is often standard TPE or lower quality, for example TPR.
But it is always best to ask.
Especially when they use silicone or TPE interchangeably. They simply don't know what they're talking about. Silicone and TPE can't be mixed safely and correctly due to chemical incompatibility:
Silicones become hard by adding materials > according to chemistry
TPE hardens due to cold and hot temperatures > thus thermolysis
Combining these two materials, each with its own different properties, will result in poor mixing of substances, meaning they will never mix 100% and therefore remain separate (delamination).
Just as oil and water do not mix, they will separate over time, so too do silicone and TPE during curing due to different curing requirements.
The difference between cheap and expensive
The difference between the dolls mentioned above is most likely due to the proportions of materials used. Cheaper dolls are made too much of oil; this is much cheaper, but it comes at a significant cost to quality. In short, you can only use the doll a few times before it starts to tear or leak.
You don't want a doll or toy that breaks after only 3 uses, which is understandable, because otherwise the costs per use would be very high.
That's why we do what we do: figuring out the best formula for a durable and soft doll so our customers can enjoy a decent product, delivered discreetly and securely. It's a never-ending mission for us, because there's always room for improvement.
In short: The TPE material quality of sex dolls isn't visible from the outside. The only red flag is a strong plastic smell that doesn't dissipate. The quality can only truly be experienced over time, after purchase. That's when the composition of the TPE material is put to the test and when you truly understand what you've bought.
A cheaper doll will sound nice and will be OK the first few times, but after a few sessions its true nature will come to the fore and you will be better off with a quality purchase as it will last much longer.
The TPE optimum in the ratio of its materials
Think of it a bit like a choice matrix (like below) with three points of which you can only choose two:
- Quality/durability of the material
- Price of the product
- Experience/feeling of the material

Want a cheap, durable doll? You'll end up with a block of concrete—not a good experience or feeling. But it will last a long time for a low price.
If you want a cheap doll with a good experience/feeling, you'll end up with a doll that breaks after a few uses. The price is low, the feel is good, but the durability is short.

Too much oil and you end up with a very soft, cheap to produce and very tear-prone sex doll.
Too little oil and you'll end up with a sex doll that becomes brittle over time, so you want an optimal ratio.
Is an expensive sex doll better?
This is difficult to judge, because a poor product can also be sold for a high price. So remember:
Market-based prices per kilogram of sex doll + customer reviews =
The best indicator of whether you are getting value for your money.
If you want to save money, choose a small and lightweight TPE sex doll . You'll gain fewer pounds and inches.
